Engine Expansion Plug Kit
Engine Expansion Plug Kit from Evergreen
An engine expansion plug kit includes the expansion or freeze plugs that seal casting openings in the block and cylinder heads. Most rebuilders replace them all while the block is bare.
When to Replace
- Coolant leaks from corroded plugs
- Block cleaning or machining during a rebuild
- Plugs pushed out by freezing
Installation Tips
- Clean each bore and check for pitting
- Use a sealant suitable for coolant contact
- Drive cup plugs on the flange, not the center
