Fuel lines carry pressurized fuel between the tank, pump, filter and engine. Corrosion, abrasion and old connectors can cause leaks, which are a serious fire risk.

Signs of a Problem

  • Fuel smell around the vehicle.
  • Visible wetness or drips along the line.
  • Heavy rust or kinks on steel lines.
  • Cracked quick-connect fittings.

Safety First

  • Work in a ventilated area away from sparks and open flames.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure using the procedure for the vehicle.
  • Disconnect the battery and have a fire extinguisher nearby.
  • Catch and dispose of fuel properly.

Installation Tips

  • Use the correct line and fittings for the application.
  • Route the line along the original path, away from exhaust heat and moving parts.
  • Secure it in all original clips.
  • Pressurize the system and check carefully for leaks before driving.
