Ordering the wrong gasket set is one of the most common reasons for a delayed job or a return. The names sound similar, but each set covers a different part of the engine. Here is how Evergreen gasket sets with Eversealed™ Technology are grouped.
Cylinder Head Gasket Set (Head Set)
Covers everything you disturb when you remove the cylinder heads. It typically includes the head gaskets plus intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets and valve stem seals. Choose this for a head gasket repair or a valve job.
Full Engine Gasket Set
Covers the whole engine, top to bottom: the head set contents plus the oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket and seals, and front and rear main seals. Choose this for a complete overhaul or rebuild.
Conversion Gasket Set
Covers the lower end of the engine: oil pan, timing cover and main seals, without the head gaskets. It is often paired with a head set when the heads are being handled separately, or used when only the bottom end is being resealed.
Valley Pan Gasket Set
Used on engines with a valley pan or lifter valley cover between the heads. Choose it when resealing that area or when the valley is opened during other work.
Quick Guide
- Head gasket or valve job: head set
- Complete rebuild: full gasket set, or head set plus conversion set
- Bottom-end reseal only: conversion set
